A first-person movement shooter. Sprint, slide-hop, wall-run, wall-jump, dash and rocket-jump through a vertical arena while three guns and four enemy types punish standing still. Style ranks D to S, aggression heals, plus a movement course with a ghost of your best run.
Velocity is a movement shooter prototype: if moving fast and well feels great, the rest follows.
Modes: Arena (waves of Hounds, Spires, Wasps and the Bulwark; survive and score) and Course (a one-minute tutorial that is also a time trial with a ghost of your best run).
Movement: you always sprint. Slide (C or Ctrl) for a burst, slide down orange ramps for free speed, jump out of a slide to keep it (slide-hop). Air-strafe to curve and gain a little speed. Shift dashes (2 charges, in the air too). Run along blue walls, jump off them, climb walls and mantle ledges automatically. Green pads throw you. Shotgun and rocket blasts push you.
Guns: Pike (precise revolver, air headshots score most), Breaker (pump shotgun, shotgun jumps), Comet (rockets, rocket jumps).
Controls: WASD, mouse, Space jump (hold to hop), C or Ctrl slide, Shift dash, 1 2 3 or Q guns, R reload, right mouse zoom, F1 tuning, F3 metrics, Backspace restart. PS4 pad: Cross jump, Circle slide, L1 dash, R2 fire, L2 zoom, Triangle next gun, R1 last gun.
Credits: code MIT; three.js (MIT), Rapier (Apache-2.0), postprocessing (Zlib). Recorded sound layers from the Sonniss GDC Game Audio Bundle (The Gun Locker, Gamemaster Audio, Olivier Girardot, Bluezone, SoundBits, 3maze, Tovusound, Levan Nadashvili, Red Libraries), used in-game only. Everything else is made in code.
