Fish a tropical island from the pier, the beach or your own boat. Cast, strike and fight 18 Caribbean species, sell your catch to Joe and upgrade your gear, with a real-time FFT ocean, volcanic island, reef and sky. Needs a WebGPU browser.
Tidewater is an island fishing game by Dan Greenheck, built on his own WebGPU and WGSL engine.
Cast from the pier, the beach or your boat. Watch the bobber, strike when it is pulled under, and keep the line tension in the green to land the fish. What bites depends on the water (shallows, pier, reef, bay, deep water) and the time of day. Sell to Joe at the fish stand, then upgrade your line, reel, rod, hold, fuel tank, engine, fish finder and deck lights at Marta's chandlery.
The world has a four-cascade FFT ocean with breaking waves, a physically based sky with volumetric clouds, a coral reef, a humpback whale and a soundscape of CC0 field recordings. The first load compiles several hundred shaders, so give it a moment.
Controls: WASD move, mouse look (click to capture, Esc to release), Shift sprint or boost, Space jump or swim up, C crouch or dive, E interact, R rod, left mouse hold and release to cast, click to strike, hold to reel, I or Tab cooler and fish log, F1 all controls.
